Prof. Dr. Stefanie Hartwig, born in Göttingen in 1974, studied law in Kiel and Liège from 1994 to 1998 and then completed postgraduate studies in commercial law in Hamburg.
After completing her studies, she was a trainee lawyer in Hamburg and New York and a research assistant at the University of Hamburg. She completed her doctorate in 2002. Ms. Hartwig has been working as a lawyer since 2003. She initially worked in a major international law firm and later joined ZENK. She has also been a specialist in intellectual property law since 2007 and a partner at ZENK since 2008.
She mainly advises companies in the consumer goods sector on product law issues as well as in the field of intellectual property law, in particular competition and trademark law. She also advises companies comprehensively on crisis management and compliance as well as on liability and recourse issues.
Stefanie Hartwig has been one of Germany’s leading lawyers in food law for many years. Among other things, she is a member of the Legal Committee of the German Food Industry Association (Lebensmittelverband Deutschland e. V.) and of the GRUR Expert Committee on Drug and Food Law. She is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Food Law Research Center at the University of Marburg and a member of the Examination Committee for the specialist title of Intellectual Property Lawyer at the Hanseatic Bar Association.
Ms. Hartwig is also a lecturer in food law and an honorary professor at the University of Lübeck.
She is a frequently booked speaker at events and is the editor and co-author of various specialist books, e.g. “Werbung für Lebensmittel” (Advertising for Food) and “Praxishandbuch Lebensmittelkennzeichnung” (A Guide to Food Labelling)
